Learn More About the Work Underway As CPD Recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April

The Cambridge Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), composed of Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC), the Cambridge Police Department (CPD), and other community partners come together to improve communal response and multidisciplinary services for sexual violence survivors since 2017. “Together through SART, we’re working towards creating more streamlined services that center the voices of survivors,” says Karen Dahl, Legal Advocacy & Immigration Legal Services Program Director. Cambridge Police Department (CPD) works to provide the best police and customized support services available to the survivors of sexual assault.  “We conduct thorough and detailed follow-up investigations of all sexual assaults reported to CPD, “said Family & Social Justice Section Deputy Superintendent Steven Magalhaes. “Our approach emphasizes sensitivity to survivors’ needs by understanding the difficulty and trauma caused by a sexual assault.”
