Cambridge Fire Academy - Burn Training Days 4 and 5

5/7/20241 week ago

On Burn Days 4 & 5, recruit firefighters, assigned to Engine, Ladder, & Rescue companies went through several burn evolution scenarios, locating & extinguishing fires in multiple rooms & on multiple floors in the Boston Fire Burn Training Facility on Moon Island.
All firefighting skills were utilized including water supply, hose line management, pump operation, fire attack, ladder work, search & rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, overhaul, & much more. Recruits "responded" on their assigned apparatus & rotated through the various assignments throughout the day. Cambridge Engines 6, 8, & 11, Cambridge Ladder 2 & Brookline Ladder 3 were used.

On Burn Day 5 (May 3rd), evoltuions included urban, hi-rise firefighing ops.

As always, following each evolution, all hose, tools, equipment, and SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) must be made up, secured, and made ready for the next assignment.

These were very busy training days & a great learning experience for all.
Thank you again to the firefighter instructors & support personnel for the guidance & for sharing the experience and knowledge. Special thanks to the Tech Services staff for their invaluable assistance.

Thank you to Boston Fire for again sharing their burn training facility.
