Agassiz Neighborhood Study Update

What's Happening Now

A follow-up meeting for the Agassiz Neighborhood Study Update was held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 to discuss the draft recommendations resulting from the discussion at the first Neighborhood Study Update meeting, and special topics of interest that arose at that meeting, including:

  • Zoning analysis for the residential “C-1 District” in Agassiz
  • Information about Somerville’s zoning along Beacon Street bordering Agassiz
  • Demographic information about the neighborhood

Discussion notes from the November 17, 2007 meeting have been reviewed with City staff and turned into recommendations that will be published in a report to the City Council, City staff departments, and the public. You can download the draft recommendations below. The recommendations are organized into the topics of Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Economic Development, and Open Space.

Project Background

This year the Community Development Department is conducting a neighborhood study update process for Agassiz. We will be reviewing the status of the recommendations in the 2003 Agassiz Neighborhood Study, which can be found below. We will also be discussing current planning issues in the neighborhood and developing a revised set of recommendations to reflect the current goals and concerns of the community.
