About the Housing Division
The City of Cambridge is committed to the preservation and creation of quality affordable housing. The substantial local, state and Federal resources dedicated to affordable housing initiatives throughout Cambridge demonstrate this commitment.
The Housing Division designs programs and policies to create more permanent affordable rental and homeownership opportunities through:
- work with local nonprofit housing organizations and the Cambridge Housing Authority to assist in their efforts to develop new housing.
- direct assistance to residents through a comprehensive first time homebuyer's program.
- various zoning initiatives that encourage private housing development.
