The Rotary Technology Learning Center

Meeting Room Policies and Form

Hours: Monday - Thursday 1:30-5:00 PM.

The Rotary Technology Learning Center, built through a generous donation from the Cambridge Rotary Club honoring its 75th anniversary, provides free public access to the Internet and computer technology to all Minuteman library users. The RTLC is also available to Cambridge non-profit community groups and organizations for computer training and technology education.

The Rotary Technology Learning Center is designed to serve as a major learning resource for Cambridge residents. People of all ages have access to the most recent technological advances through structured training as well as independent study and exploration. With its high speed connection to the Internet, the Center is a valuable asset for the entire Cambridge community.

Located at the Central Square Branch Library, 45 Pearl St. in Cambridge, the RTLC is handicapped-accessible, and close to the Central Square stop on the MBTA Red Line. Call (617) 349-4010 for directions.

The RTLC is a state-of-the-art computer classroom with 12 PC workstations. The operating system is Windows XP Pro.

Each computer in the RTLC is equipped with:

  • unrestricted T1 Internet access with Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Office products including
    • Microsoft Word
    • Excel
    • Access
    • PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Encarta
  • Microsoft Kids Suite featuring The Magic School Bus Games
  • Roxio CD Creator

Any Minuteman library cardholder may use the Rotary Technology Learning Center on a drop-in basis during the public service hours: Monday-Thursday from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Call (617) 349-4010 for more information.

The Cambridge Public Library also makes the Rotary Technology Learning Center available at other times during library hours to Cambridge tax-exempt non-profit community groups and organizations that are engaged in educational, cultural, and/or charitable activities. Groups may schedule a single session or a series of class periods, using their own instructors, on a first-come, first-served basis. The trainer or instructor must be approved by the Library’s Systems Coordinator and must review the technical rules of the RTLC with the Coordinator before any sessions begin. Charging fees or soliciting donations for any training sessions is prohibited.
