Waverly Street Extension and Path

Waverly Street Extension path

This project will reconstruct about 400 feet of the Waverly Street Extension along the Purrington rail spur.  In the northern portion of this corridor, MIT constructed a multi-use path between two graduate student dormitories as part of its permitting for the a dormitory project.  As part of this project, multi-modal facilities will be extended in the southern portion of the corridor to Erie Street, along with a reconstructed roadway allowing vehicle access to adjacent properties and to Merriam Street.

A scope and design contract are currently being developed for the Waverly Street Extension reconstruction.

Design should be complete by the end of 2012 and construction is anticipated for the spring of 2013.
