The Economic Development Division works with the Center for Women & Enterprise, Cambridge Community Television (CCTV), Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and local organizations to provide business development programs and services to Cambridge residents, entrepreneurs, and businesses.

Is Entrepreneurship Right for You?

  • Description: Attend this workshop and decide whether starting your own business is right for you. As a part of this workshop, you will: explore the process and learn about the risks and rewards of starting up your own business; conduct a self-assessment that will help you decide if business ownership is right for you; find out the first steps to start a business; and get an overview of resources available to help you move forward with your business idea. This workshop is a requirement for the 10-Week Business Planning Program. Presented by the Center for Women and Enterprise.

Building Your Website with Wix

  • Date:Thursday, September 7, 2017

  • Location: Cambridge Community Television Computer Lab, 438 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA
  • Description: Can't code HTML? Don't have thousands to shell out for a beautiful web design? You can build your own interactive website using Wix. This hands-on  workshop will walk you through the web-building program including: how to find, purchase, and connect a domain name, how to pick a template, how to create web pages, pricing structures, and how to enable e-commerce and blogs. Prerequisite: You must have basic computer and internet literacy. Workshop instructor: Patricia Egessa. This class will be filmed.

Legal Considerations for Small Businesses

  • Description: This workshop provides an overview on legal issues that business owners and entrepreneurs should consider when starting and growing a business. Topics may include: different types of legal entities for businesses, contract considerations, intellectual property concerns, and more. Jessica Managanello of Cambridge's New Leaf Legal will be instructing the course so come with your questions.

Using Instagram to Promote Your Business

Speed Mentoring Clinic

  • Description:Get an opportunity to meet with up to four small business experts and get your questions answered in one morning! Select up to four topics you would like to discuss with an expert when you register. Each appointment lasts 30 minutes. Expertise areas include: marketing, legal, insurance, zoning/licensing, finance, operations, HR, and more! Presented by the Center for Women and Enterprise.

Search Engine Optimization

  • Description: This is a class about how to get your website to the top of Google Search. We will focus on On-Page and Off-Page SEO. Have you ever wondered why you are not #1 on Google? Attend this class and not only find out why your website isn't #1, but what steps you can take to earn that position. Prerequisite: You must either work on your own website, or actively serve as an administrator for an existing business, organization, or charity website. Workshop instructor: Ted Debenttencourt. Online Marketing Webinar: Building an Online Brand that Connects to Your Customers
