Choosing Your Legal Entity

  • Description: Legal designations can significantly impact the future of your business, so it is important to understand your business in the legal sense. Attend this workshop to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of various business structures (sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, non-profit and corporations) and to be able to get your legal questions answered by a legal advisor. Presented by Jessica Manganello of New Leaf Legal.

Come to this workshop to learn what the city's purchasing policies are, what the city most frequently buys and how to get on the city's Vendor Registry. The purchasing department will be on hand to answer questions and learn about what your business can offer to the city. Presented by the City of Cambridge. This is a Local Economy Week event.

Harnessing the Power of LinkedIn - Beginners Workshop

SDO Pre-Certification Workshop

  • Date: Thursday, November 13, 2014 
  • Time: 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
  • Location: Cambridge City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway, 2nd floor Community Room
  • Description: Hosted by the City of Cambridge Community Development Department and presented by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Operational Services Department. To apply for certification as a Minority, Woman, and/or disadvantaged Business Enterprise, you must attend a Pre-Certification Workshop. Get information on how to begin the certification process. Presented by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Operational Services Department.

Marketing Boot Camp

  • Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2014

  • Description: As an entrepreneur, everything you do is a marketing opportunity. As more challenging competition and technical tools become the norm, it is essential to reach potential customers and develop loyalty in ways that are practical, convincing, clean, and urgent. In this half-day workshop, you will understand market research and how to identify and quantify your target audience, how data mining can work for you, and develop a tailored marketing plan that you can start immediately. Attendees are encouraged to bring marketing materials to share for feedback (e.g., brochures, business cards, etc.) Presented by the Center for Women and Enterprise.
