GoGreen Awards History
“The GoGreen Awards recognize Cambridge businesses and organizations for their efforts to preserve the environment and quality of life in Cambridge. Many of our businesses and organizations are active in promoting and implementing environmental programs, and we want to make sure that their efforts are appreciated and applauded.”

The annual GoGreen Awards recognize the environmental sustainability initiatives of Cambridge businesses and organizations in the areas of transportation, waste reduction/recycling, energy, stormwater management, climate protection, and initiatives by community organizations. The nomination deadline is usually in April. Anyone can submit a nomination and self-nominations are welcome. The awards will be presented at a gala event in May or June at the LEED Gold rated City Hall Annex.

2010: GoGreen Awards
Transportation: Harvard Book Store and MIT
Waste Reduction: The Dance Complex, Harvest Co-op, Whole Foods Market and Cornerstone Co-Housing
Climate Protection: Irving House at Harvard and Watermark Cambridge
Energy: Lansing Fair and Better Cities Management and Novartis
Stormwater Management: Linear Retail and MIT
Community Organization: Sustainable Business Leadership Program

2009: Go Green Awards
In 2009, The Climate/Energy Award category was divided into two categories, and additional categories were added for Stormwater Management and Community Organizations.

Climate Protection:Genzyme and Citigate Cunningham
Energy: HRI and Cambridge Health Alliance
Stormwater Management: Forest City and Old Cambridge Baptist Church

1999 to 2008: GoGreen Award Winners
Starting in 1999 the City of Cambridge Community Development and Public Works Departments teamed up to recognize area businesses for outstanding environmental efforts through the GoGreen Awards. In 2004, the GoGreen awards added a new category for Climate/Energy efforts given to companies that undertake outstanding climate protection efforts. Recipients include:
