The Cambridge YWCA completed a multi-year renovation of its 103-unit property on Temple Street in Central Square in 2013.  The property consists of two buildings, Main and Tanner, both of which were in need of substantial renovation.  In addition to the SRO housing, the YWCA property also contains commercial space and space for YWCA programming and operations.

The rehabilitation of these buildings includes new energy-efficient systems and fixtures; upgraded plumbing and electrical; renovated kitchens, baths, laundry and common areas; new elevators; new windows and exterior façade work; and, substantial improvements to accessibility including new HP accessible units, ramps, and bathrooms.

Centrally located near public transportation, services, and the many other amenities of Central Square, this housing is an irreplaceable resource.  The comprehensive renovation of the Temple Street property will ensure the long-term viability of this important housing resource for women.  The Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust has provided more than $3 million in Community Preservation Act financing for this project.

The project was completed in 2013. No further updates will be made to this project page.
