Affordable Rental Apartments
The City of Cambridge, the Cambridge Housing Authority, nonprofit organizations and private developers provide a range of rental housing opportunities throughout the city. Households can find out about affordable rental opportunities in Cambridge several ways:
Inclusionary Housing Program
The Inclusionary Housing Program includes affordable rental units for various privately owned and managed developments. Inclusionary rental units are filled through the Rental Applicant Pool.

Non-Profit Housing Developments
Several non-profit agencies in Cambridge own and manage affordable rental developments throughout the city. Please contact these organizations and their management companies directly to apply for housing.

Private for-profit developers own and manage affordable housing throughout the city. These developments maintain waiting lists to identify new tenants when vacancies occur.

Public Housing and Section 8 Housing
The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) operates all of the federal and state public housing developments in Cambridge. These affordable apartments serve very-low, low and moderate-income households, elderly, and disabled individuals. The CHA also operates the Section 8 Program. The Community Development Department Housing Division maintains a mailing list of residents who are interested in affordable rental units.
