  • Grinding and Paving on First St - July 25-July 27

    The two northbound lanes (Galleria Mall side) of First St will be milled and paved between Binney St and Otis St. The block between Linskey Way and Athanaeum St will also be paved.

  • Polystyrene Ordinance Information Sessions

    The Polystyrene Ordinance, which goes into effect October 20, 2016, prohibits food establishments from dispensing prepared food or beverage in single-use disposable polystyrene containers.   • Residents Encouraged to Bring Reusable Bags when Shopping in Cambridge

    The City of Cambridge seeks to reduce the number of plastic and paper bags being used, discarded, littered, burned, and buried. The Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) Ordinance, effective March 31, 2016, encourages the use of reusable bags at all retail establishments in Cambridge.

    This notice is required by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as an annual update on the progress of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) control measures to improve the water quality of Alewife Brook.
