The Fire Department is responsible to review the fire protection plans and specifications for all projects where a building permit (long form) is being requested. In most cases, a plan review meeting is required only for large scale projects or major alterations involving complete new sprinkler or fire alarm system installations. For all other projects, plans and specifications can be submitted, at your convenience, to Fire Headquarters, 491 Broadway second floor. A plan review is not required for sub-contractors submitting shop drawings. 

For review, the following items are required to be submitted with the plans:

• Building permit application (completely filled out)
• Fire protection systems and operation narrative as outlined in 780CMR € 9
• Three (3) sets of engineer stamped plans
• $75 Plan Review Fee (make checks payable to the City of Cambridge)
• Plan Review Drop Off Form with a brief description of the project
