Combustible Material Storage

  • A person shall not store in any building or upon any premisis in excess of 2,500 cubic feet gross volume of combustible empty packing cases, boxes, barrels or similar containers; or rubber tires, baled cotton, rubber cork or other similarly combustible material without having obtained a permit from the head of the Fire Department.
  • Storage in buildings and structures shall be orderly, shall not be within two feet of the ceiling, and shall be located so as not to obstruct egress from the building.
  • Outside storage shall not be more than 20 feet in height and shall be located as not to constitute a hazard and not less than 25 feet from any other building on the site or from a lot line.

Combustible Fiber Storage

  • A permit for the storage and handling of combustible fibers in quantities in excess of 100 cubic feet shall be obtained from the head of the Fire Department.

Application for a permit must be made in person to the Fire Prevention office.
