On 10/3/08 at 10:51 AM, a Cambridge Police officer responded to a Hews St. location for a noise complaint report from a motor vehicle. An inquiry on the suspected motor vehicle revealed that the attached plates on it belonged to a different motor vehicle. An inquiry on the motor vehicle’s vin number revealed that the motor vehicle was unregistered and it belonged to a female out of Chelsea, MA.

On 10/3/08 at 10:59 AM, an officer responded to West St. for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, both operators provided the officer with their information. One of the operators, Mr. Jonathan Goss, 17, of 10 Columbia Terrace, Cambridge MA, was found to have an active warrant out of Brockton District Court for Operating a Motor Vehicle With a Suspended License. Mr. Goss was subsequently placed under arrest.

On 10/3/08 at 4:07 PM, a Cambridge resident reported that she has been receiving several phone calls from an unknown party who promises to send her millions of dollars but requires she first send money to process the transaction. A second call resulted in a negotiation for less money, but the caller indicated that if she did not send the money, they would come burn her S.U.V. The reporting party does not own a motor vehicle.

On 10/3/08 at 5:01 PM, an officer observed a motor vehicle turning from Mass. Ave. to Essex St. with an expired inspection sticker. The officer pulled the motor vehicle over and queried the license plate. It was discovered that the registered owner's license was expired. The operator was cited for the expired license and the expired inspection sticker.

On 10/3/08 at 6:20 PM, a Cambridge resident was issued a criminal complaint for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle after a follow-up investigation was conducted on a motor vehicle crash that occurred at 1:30 PM on River St. and Mass. Ave. The operator stated that he was involved in a motor vehicle crash and was unable to produce a valid license. The owner of the vehicle was issued a criminal complaint for Allowing Unlicensed Person to Operate Motor Vehicle.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the Area Manager who stated that approximately 35 pairs of various styles and colors of "Ugg" boots were stolen from the stock room.

On 10/4/08 at 2:19 AM, a Cambridge Police Sergeant observed two people engaged in a fight at the intersection of Hampshire St. and Amory St. The fight was stopped and both parties were placed under arrest for mutual Assault and Battery. The arrested persons were identified as Melvin Ramirez Ecevedo, 27, of 8 Pratt St., Allston MA, and Juan Cuestas, 25, of 58 Pickney St., Somerville MA.

On 10/4/08 at 8:43 PM, an employee of a Cambridge street business reported that at approximately 8:10 PM, four black females approached the business, which closes at 8:00 PM.  When they informed these females that they were closed, one of the female punched the front window causing it to break. The females then fled the area on foot towards Inman square.

On 10/5/08 at 2:08 AM, a pedestrian informed an officer that a male was being detained in the Middle East Restaurant and was not cooperating with the detail officers. Upon arrival, the witness informed the officer that the defendant, Mr. William Rhodes, 21, of 160 East Berkley St., Boston MA, reached behind the bar and stole a bottle of wine. The defendant was located with the bottle of wine on his person and subsequently arrested for Larceny from a Building.

On 10/5/08 at 1:31 PM, an employee of the United Baptist Church located Main St. reported that on 10/2/08, two black males described as tall, skinny with dread locks and a short male with short hair initiated a disturbance inside the church. The victim called 911 but both suspects left before police arrival. The victim stated that he is in fear these suspects might come back and harm him.

On 10/5/08 at 3:20 PM, an officer was dispatched to Green St. for past B&E into motor vehicles. Upon arrival, two victims met the officer. The fist victim informed the officer that his motor vehicle was left unlocked. An iPod was stolen along with a transmitter and charger. The second victim informed the officer that his back left window was shattered, but nothing was taken. The left rear window pillar of his motor vehicle was also damaged.

Drinking In Public

On 10/5/08 at 4:26 PM, an officer was walking on Mass. Ave. by Western Ave, when he noticed the defendant, Leon Horner, 58, homeless, drinking from an open bottle of "Ruble Vodka."  The officer ordered Mr. Horner to dump out the alcoholic beverage as he tried to gather his information. The defendant refused to comply and started drinking from the open bottle. The officer placed him under arrest for Drinking in Public.

On 10/5/08 at 5:48 PM, an Allston resident was stopped in the motor vehicle he was operating after he failed to stop for a red light at JFK St. and Mt. Auburn St. A check of the operators license status revealed he was he was unlicensed in the Commonwealth. He was written a citation for the offense.

On 10/5/08 at 6:04 PM, Gary Maiben, 47, of 116 Norfolk St., Cambridge was arrested and charged with the following: Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon for swinging his cane at a Lt. of the fire department and missing, A&B on a Police Officer for aggressively grabbing an officer’s shoulder and ripping a radio off of the officer’s jacket causing it to tear, Resisting Arrest for failing to obey the officer’s commands to put his hands behind his back after being told he was under arrest, Disorderly Conduct for purposely blocking the alley in between Central Kitchen and Lot 5 causing pedestrians to gather in groups to see what was happening and vehicles in the street to slow down, and Possession of Class B Drug for being in possession of a tiny plastic bag with a white powder like substance inside that was revealed to be cocaine.

On 10/5/08 at 6:54 PM, a Newton resident reported that she was at the Tavern In the Square when some unknown person stole her wallet while it was on the table.

On 10/5/08 at 7:04 PM, an officer was dispatched to a business on Mount Auburn Street.  Upon arrival, the officer was informed that a suspect(s) stole the victim's cell phone from the counter and agreed to return it for $100.00. The victim told his friend to go to the Science Center and gave him a description of the suspects to see if they were at that location. The victim’s friend followed the suspects until they were stopped by CPD. One of the juvenile suspects dropped a double-edged knife to the ground. The officer responded to the scene and identified the two juveniles stopped as the persons that were observed on the surveillance footage taking the cell phone. Found on one of the juveniles were two baggies of marijuana. The victims cell phone was found near the suspects on the ground.  Both juveniles from Somerville MA were placed under arrest.

On 10/5/08 at 8:18 PM, a Cambridge resident reported that he got into a verbal argument with a male in Central Sq. The male grabbed a razor scooter and struck the victim in the left side of his abdomen causing a puncture wound. The victim took himself to the Cambridge City Hospital on 10/5/08 to get treated.  The victim stated that he has seen the suspect before in Central Sq but doesn't know his name.

Armed Robbery

On 10/5/08 at 9:07 PM, an officer received a radio dispatch for an armed robbery that had just occurred on Blackstone St. The suspect description was three black teens one female and two male. The suspects were last seen fleeing on Blackstone St. heading toward River St. The victims stated that while walking on Blackstone St. toward Western Ave., they realized that three individuals were following them. When they moved to the side to let them pass, the three black teens stopped in front of them. One of the suspects produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspects then turned and fled up Blackstone St. toward River St. with the victims’ handbags.
