During a routine traffic stop officers found that the operator and the passenger had a class d substance on their persons. They were arrested.

Larceny Over $250 8.4.09, 10:00-10:20AM Broadway
Two Swedish residents reported that they left their Marriott Hotel room and returned to find that their suitcase was open. Upon further investigation, they learned that their leather binder which contained passports, credit cards, cash, and other miscellaneous documents was gone.
Cruelty to Animal Arrest 5.26.09, 4:40 PM – 4:50 PM Memorial Dr.
Sean McFarland was arrested after witnesses observed him kicking and stomping on a small dog on the sidewalk.

Mass Ave. & Memorial Dr.
Jordan Brainson was arrested following a motor vehicle stop due to a suspended license. A search of Brainson’s motor vehicle recovered 9.6 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Wadsworth St.
The victim stated that she was walking to work when a white male suspect approached her and asked if she was a doctor or nurse. The victim replied that she was not and asked the suspect if he needed help. The suspect then pulled out an 8-10” kitchen knife from his rear pocket area and said that he would have stabbed her if she were. The victim fled and called MIT Police. A suspect was stopped in the area, but the victim was unable to ID.
Suspect Description: White male, 40’s, 5’8”-5’10”, medium build, round face, wearing a black baseball cap, black over-sized sunglasses, a red t-shirt, blue jeans, and dirty white sneakers.
Aggravated Assault 3.27.09, 3:50 PM - 4:55 PM Vassar St.
The victim was assaulted by a taxi driver who approached her car after she parked. The suspect repeatedly hit the victim in the arm with her car door and grabbed her and shook her violently, screaming at her to move her vehicle.
Street Robbery 3.17.09, 9:30 AM 290 Main St.
An employee at Cosi stated that she was robbed by an unknown suspect while on her way to the bank to deposit cash. The victim was carrying the deposits in a yellow bag labeled DHL. As she was heading out the rear door of the restaurant, the suspect grabbed the victim's arm, pushed her, and fled with the bag of cash. Suspect Description: male, light skin, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and dark colored ball cap
Street Robbery 2.22.09, 2:15 PM – 2:25 PM Mass Ave. & Vassar St.
The victim stated that 4 black male suspects approached him and asked him for the time. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s cell phone out of his hands and walked away. MIT Police took a report of a similar incident that occurred minutes later on the E15 Plaza with the same suspect description.
Armed Robbery 1.25.09, 10:40 -- 10:48 2 Cambridge Center (Marriott Hotel)
The victims stated that they invited the suspect over to their hotel room. The victims had met the suspect at a Boston bar in the past. When the suspect entered their room he pulled out a small black handgun and threw a pair of handcuffs at the victims and told them to put them on. The victims refused and started yelling at him. The suspect took a cell phone from one victim and fled the room. Suspect Description: Approximately 5 foot 5 inches, 150 lbs, of Italian decent
Extortion Arrest 9.14.08, 11:00 PM Mass. Ave. & Pearl St.
A victim stated that a man had threatened to kill him if he didn't pay him money. The victim stated that he was scared of the defendant because he is known to be violent and to carry weapons. The defendant was found after a search of the area and arrested. He also had outstanding warrants from BPD.
Armed Robbery 8.23.08, 11:47 PM Cambridge Center
A victim stated two males robbed him. The first suspect blocked his path in front and stated he had a gun but never showed it, and demanded the victim's belongings. The second suspect blocked the victim from behind and showed a small knife and demanded the victim’s belongings as well. Both suspects searched his pockets and removed his wallet. Before fleeing on their bikes they told the victim not to call police. The first suspect was described as a light skinned black or Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, with curly black hair, about 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 7 inches, 130lbs, wearing a white t-shirt. The second describe was described as a dark skinned black or Hispanic male, 18-22 years old, small stature.
Armed Robbery 8.15.08, 2:45 AM Market St. & Broadway
A victim reported that while getting into his parked car, a black male approached him. The suspect pointed a black revolver at him and demanded his wallet and bag. Another man approached the passenger side and demanded the wallet of the victim’s friend in the passenger seat. The victim was unable to report the crime until an hour later because his cell phone was in his bag.

This section contains tips on how to help protect yourself against the crimes listed in the log above.
Street Robberies
You are always at a higher risk for being robbed late at night and on dark streets. Try to avoid these areas. Avoid public parks and areas with excessive trees and bushes. Avoid deserted areas and shortcuts. Walk close to the curb, except where cars pull in. Always walk briskly and confidently. Be aware of who is around you and what is going on. Have your keys ready so you can unlock your car door, or the door to your home. If you ever feel threatened, draw attention to yourself by making plenty of noise.
If robbed, always treat any firearm displayed by a robber as being loaded. Follow the robber’s instructions. It is not worth being seriously hurt by resisting.
Study the robber as closely as possible. Take note of their race, age, height, sex, clothing, speech characteristics and scars. It may help to see if the robber resembles anyone famous that has similar features. Try to note which direction they flee after the robbery. Call 911 as soon as possible and relay this information.
When speaking to the Emergency Communication Center, give the exact address of where the robbery occurred. Describe exactly what happened as clearly as possible. Describe the robbers and let the dispatcher know if the person is still in view, how long ago they left and if any weapons were shown. Also state whether medical attention is needed.

The 24-hour anonymous drug Tip Hot Line is a mechanism for citizens to provide the Special Investigations Unit with information relating to illicit drug use and distribution, as well as vice issues such as prostitution and gambling.
When a citizen calls the above number, he or she will generally hear a taped message asking the caller to speak as long as you like. Explain the activity in as much detail as possible, including the following information:

Location of the Incident: Street address of building or house, names of nearest intersecting streets, landmarks near or at the scene.

Description of Persons Involved: Height, sex, age, weight, clothing, hair color, eye color, skin color and any distinguishing marks.

Description of vehicles involved: Make, model, color and license plate.
You do not have to provide your name, address, or telephone number.
