Board of Library Trustees Minutes
A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, April 22, 2002 in the Director’s Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

Ms. Flannery briefly discussed current library matters with library trustees. She reported that MLA Legislative day on April 10, 2002 was a success and that there would be a potluck dinner at the O’Connell Branch to welcome Yan Qu as the new Branch Manager.
Susan Flannery began the introductions of architectural teams and trustees. Each member discussed their own vision of the new library building and expectations from the project. It was reported by Bill Rawn that the contract between the City of Cambridge and Rawn/Beha had been signed. The plan for the next 6 months was presented as follows:
* Budget planning and development
* Conceptual design – presented end of June(1st of 4 community meetings during Phase I)
* Early August – 3 options presented to the community
* October/November – sign off on design/end of conceptual design.
* PR schedule coordinates with program schedule
* Outreach and PR to be handled by library
* 8 total community meetings in this phase
Bill Barry asked the architects what the key roles might be for the Trustees. It was decided that this topic would be further discussed at the next combined meeting between the architectural team and the Board of Library Trustees which should be scheduled for June, 2002.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. The next meeting of the Board will be on Monday, May 20, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library.
