Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, December 17, 2001 in the Director’s Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• William Barry
• Andre Mayer
• Nancy Woods

also present:

• Susan Flannery, Director of Libraries
• Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

Minutes of the November meeting were approved.

Correspondence from Paul Lawrence, the Cambridge Community Foundation and Dina Becze was acknowledged.

Susan Flannery reported on the status of the vacant trustee position. She announced that the City Manager has appointed Patricia Payne as the new trustee. Her appointment will become effective on January 1, 2002. Her term is for 3 years expiring on December 31, 2004.

Bliss Matteson, Collection Development Librarian addressed the Board with an update on the library’s procedures for collection development and book purchasing.

Susan Flannery reported on the FY03 budget guidelines provided by the City Manager. Personnel costs will be absorbed by the City but operational costs must be level funded.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. The next meeting of the Board will be on Monday, January 14, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library.
