Minutes of the December meeting were approved.
Correspondence was acknowledged. Nancy Woods provided letters to be sent to Councillors Davis and Braude. It was the consensus of the board that the letters be sent to thank them for their interest in and support of the library.
Board members requested that the newly approved strategic plan be posted on the library’s web site and provided for the public in printed format as well.
Board members discussed the next communication to be produced by this board. It was agreed that the Library Trustees’ Communications Plan be made available to the public and that this board would make every effort to produce one article per month for the Cambridge Chronicle. In addition, it was suggested that a page be added to the library’s web site dedicated exclusively to the new building to publicly announce events and to keep the public informed of the building process. Ms. Flannery will run a contest for staff and through "On & Off Broadway" to get a catchy name or tag line for the site. Ms. Flannery will also write up a timeline of the process for the February issue of "On & Off Broadway".
Ms. Flannery explained that the next step in the building process would be for the City Manager’s Office to put together an RFP for an architect. The Manager will appoint a committee to review applicants, interview the best qualified and make a recommendation to the City Manager.
Ms. Flannery announced that Library Trustee Olive Johnson has moved to Florida. This vacates her seat on the board. She will notify the City Manager of the vacancy.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next meeting of the Board will be on Monday, February 5, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library.
