Board of Library Trustees Minutes
A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 in the Director’s Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

Minutes of the April meeting were approved with several changes as proposed by Mr. Roosevelt and Ms. Woods.
Correspondence from Keith Michael Fiels and the American Library Trustees Association was acknowledged.
Ms. Flannery informed the Board that library employee Susan Ciccione had been chosen as one of the City’s Outstanding
Employees this year. Janet Axelrod extended the congratulations of the Board.
Susan Flannery reported that in response to the patron request concerning political biographies, Reference Librarian Elizabeth Dickinson has already prepared a lobby display for October, 2000.
Ms. Flannery also reported that Daryl Mark, Head of Children’s Services for the Cambridge Public Library and Joan
Stern, Head of the School Department Libraries will attend the next Board meeting.
Final plans for the John good Memorial were discussed. Ms. Flannery and the library staff will ensure that all arrangements are complete.
Ms. Flannery updated the board on the status of the Main Library site. She is pleased with the growing momentum for a final resolve of this issue and emphasized the continued need for public input. She also reported that the Prospect Street owners are now open to city offerings and that councillor Michael Sullivan proposed that 7-11 be removed as a potential site and it was approved by the City Council.
In an update on the strategic planning process, Ms. Flannery said she will try to schedule Steve Miller for a June meeting with the Trustees.
The Board discussed and recommended a format for public input at their public meetings. Letters will be accepted and advance notice will be required for something to be added as an agenda item. Susan Flannery will prepare a packet to provide for members of the public who may attend future meetings. Nancy Woods commented that she would like to see the Trustee meetings in a more public place.
The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, June 5, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the Director’s Office of the Main Library.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
