Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, March 1, 1999 at 7:30 in the DirectorÌs Office of the Main Library, 449 Broadway. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Ms. Janet Axelrod
• Mr. John Good
• Mr. James Roosevelt, Jr.

also present:

• Susan Flannery, Director of Libraries

On a motion duly made and seconded, Janet Axelrod was elected Chairperson Pro Tem.

A motion to accept the minutes of the February 1999 meeting was passed.

Ms. Flannery invited all Board members to participate in the Legislative Breakfast scheduled for Friday, March 12, 1999.

Ms. Flannery reported that the grand opening of the Bengali Collection at the Central Square Branch library was well attended by the community and that the Economic Minister of Bangladesh came from Washington D.C.

The site surveys have been mailed and are being returned to STS. Ms. Flannery hopes to have the survey analysis completed by the next meeting. Board members requested that the Director submit the final results to the Cambridge Chronicle for publication. The Board also requested that Ms. Flannery set up a meeting with the Mayor to discuss the Main LibraryÌs future site.

Board members decided to postpone a discussion concerning the vision and direction of Trustees since only three Trustees were present.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, April 5, 1999 at 7:30 p.m.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
