Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, April 5, 1999 at 7:30 in the Rotary Technology Center at the Central Square Branch Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Ms. Janet Axelrod
• Mr. John Good
• Mr. Andre Mayer
• also present:
• Susan Flannery, Director of Libraries
• Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

On a motion duly made and seconded, Andre Mayer was elected Chairperson Pro Tem.

A motion to approve the minutes of the March 1999 meeting was passed.

Correspondence from Keith Michael Fiels and Robert Clark was acknowledged.

In the Rotary Technology Center Eric Graham presented a demonstration of the Internet and the Cambridge Public Library Web Page and its links. Mr. Graham is the libraryÌs Information Systems Coordinator. He also briefed Board members on the usage of this center and its growing popularity.

The Board decided to postpone discussion about its vision/direction until the July meeting when the Strategic Plan is due to be updated. Also, the City Manager will have made his appointments to the Board of Trustees by this date.

Ms. Flannery informed the Board of an upcoming program presented at the Main Library by Arula Records. They will donate $1.00 to the library for every copy sold of their new spoken word cd.

Board members also reviewed the Public Access Computer Policies & Procedures draft. They voted unanimously to accept this final draft.

Ms. Flannery presented Board members with the final budget that will be presented to the City Council.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, May 3, 1999 at 7:30 p.m.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
