Cambridge Public Library Board of Library Trustees Minutes
June 2, 1997

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, June 2, 1997 at 7:30 in the Administration Office, 449 Broadway, Cambridge.

The following members of the board of Library Trustees were present:

Mrs. Olive Johnson, Chairperson
Mr. John A.P. Good, Treasurer
Ms. Janet Axelrod
Mr. Andre Mayer
also present:
Susan M. Flannery, Director of Libraries
Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

A motion to accept the minutes of the May 1997 meeting was passed unanimously.

Correspondence was acknowledged from the following: Peter Wolff and Jane Carleton.

Old Business:

Susan Flannery reported that the roof repairs at the Collins Branch Library had been completed . The Branch reopened today. The project ran smoothly and, although the branch was closed to the public for safety issues, there were no complaints or problems.

Marilyn Gagalis presented an update of the Friends of the Library membership. A total of 14 new memberships were received and 5 friends renewed their memberships.

New Business:

The most recent Affirmative Action Report compiled by Marian Hampton was distributed to all Board members. John Good commended Ms. Flannery and the Library Administration for their outstanding efforts in attaining our affirmative action goals.

Ms. Flannery also informed the Board that the bids for the Rotary Community Technology Center should be completed by mid summer and the Center should be completed by late Fall. An architect's rendering of the new Technology Center was shown to the Trustees.

John Good requested that thank you letters be sent to all staff involved in the Literacy Program and the Rogers Celebration.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, September 8, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. in the Director's Office.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
