Board of Library TrusteesMinutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, June 7, 1999 at 7:30 in the director's Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Ms. Janet Axelrod
• Mr. John A.P. Good
• Mr. Andre Mayer
• Mr. James Roosevelt, Jr.

Also present:

• Ms. Susan M. Flannery. Director of Libraries
• Ms. Philecia Harris, Assistant Director
• Ms. Daryl Mark, Coordinator of Children's Services
• Ms. Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

On a motion duly made and seconded, Andre Mayer was elected Chairperson Pro Tem.

A motion to approve the minutes of the May 1999 meeting was passed.

Daryl Mark presented the 1999 Summer Reading Club themes to the Board. Programming, innovative book lists and creative activities have been planned. The School Department is assisting the library in distribution of the booklists that will be given to every student, including private and parochial school students. Kick off events will begin the week of June 21, 1999.

Ms. Flannery reported that improvements to the Collins Branch Library have been completed.

The next meeting of the board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, July 28, 1999 at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be for the purpose of updating the library's strategic plan. All Board members agreed to invite a facilitator.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
