Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, September 13, 1999 at 7:30 in the director's Office of the Main Library.

The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

Ms. Janet Axelrod
Mr. John A.P. Good
Mr. Andre Mayer
Mr. James Roosevelt, Jr.

Also present:

Ms. Susan M. Flannery. Director of Libraries
Ms. Philecia Harris, Assistant Director
Ms. Daryl Mark, Coordinator of Children's Services
Ms. Carole Feeney, Valente Branch Librarian
Ms. Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

On a motion duly made and seconded, Janet Axelrod was elected Chairperson Pro Tem.

A motion to approve the minutes of the June 1999 meeting was passed.

Correspondence from the following people was acknowledged: Nancy Yee, Paul Kerrigan, Ann Stroobaut & Trina Rodriguez, Meredith Thompson & Janet Forte.

Carole Feeney was introduced to the Board as the new Branch Librarian at the Valente Branch Library. Carole gave the Board a brief overview of her experience, which included working at the Boudreau Branch Library for twelve years before leaving the City's employ to pursue a career in the private sector. She returned to the library in 1996 and has since worked in the Central Square Children's Room and the Acquisitions Department. Carole spoke with the Board about her plans for the Valente Branch.

Ms. Flannery updated Board members on changes to the Minuteman Web Page.

She also presented a revised list of meeting dates for the board's approval.

Ms. Flannery announced that Gail Willett will take over the library's Author Series. Gail had previously been a grant administrator for the library's On Common Ground" grant.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, October 4, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. in the Director's Office of the Main Library.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
