Board of Library Trustees Minutes
A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, October 4, 1999 in the Director's Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

On a motion duly made and seconded, Janet Axelrod was appointed Chairperson. A motion to appoint Olive Johnson Chairperson Emerita was also passed. The City Manager will be notified of this decision.
Board members were notified that Nancy Woods had been appointed to the Board of Library Trustees by the City Manager. Ms. Woods will attend the next board meeting.
The Friends of the Library will host their annual potluck supper on October 14, 1999. Janet Axelrod will attend to represent the Board of Trustees.
Janet Axelrod and Andre Mayer presented their vision statements. These drafts were reviewed and it was suggested that a combination of the two would provide the most comprehensive vision statement. Further discussion will take place at the next meeting after all board members have been given the opportunity to review and revise these two draft statements.
Andre Mayer presented the board with a statement he prepared in support of moving forward immediately with plans to build a new main library.
It was unanimously agreed that this statement should be prepared and sent to all newspapers, City Councilors, council candidates, the Cambridge School Superintendent, the CRLS Principal, Cambridge School Committee, State Representatives, Senators and cc copies to Robert Healy, Richard Rossi and Lisa Peterson.
It was requested that Daryl Mark, supervisor of Children's Services be invited to a future meeting to discuss the Summer Reading Club.
The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at 7:30 p.m.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30p.m.
