Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, November 2, 1998 at 8:00 in the Director's Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Ms. Janet Axelrod
• Mr. Andre Mayer
• Mr. James Roosevelt, Jr.

also present:

• Susan M. Flannery, Director of Libraries
• Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

Andre Mayer was elected chairperson pro tem.

A motion to accept the minutes of the September 1998 meeting was passed.

Correspondence from Nancy Yee concerning the O'Connell Branch Library was acknowledged.

Susan Flannery reported on the status of the Main Library site search. A public hearing will be held at a future date yet to be determined.

Susan Flannery notified Board members of the upcoming "Friend of the Library Awards" to be held on Thursday, December 3, 1998. The following library friends will be honored for their dedication and support: Mary Rogers, Lou Pingitore, Nora Dooley, and the Cambridge Black Cultural & Historical Association. Susan Flannery also reported that Daryl Mark, Associate Librarian for Children's Services was honored by the Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center at their recent Weaving Dreams Gala event. Each year, the Hildebrand Center honors those who have assisted them in providing support to homeless families. Daryl was honored for her long-standing commitment to providing story times, books, and musical programs to the children and families who reside in the Hildebrand residences.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, December 7, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
