Fresh Pond Reservation Drainage and Habitat Improvements Project
Project Overview
The Fresh Pond Reservation Drainage and Habitat Improvements project will focus on the southern watershed of Little Fresh Pond. Enhancements to the golf course, Perimeter Road, and woodlands will compliment the proceeding Little Fresh Pond Shoreline Restoration and Drainage Improvement Project completed during summer 2007.
The City of Cambridge Water, Public Works, and Recreation Departments have collaborated on the project, which was identified by the Fresh Pond Reservation Master Plan as a very high/high priority. The Bioengineering Group, Inc. provided design and engineering services for the project. Funding has been provided in part through the Open Space Community Preservation Act (CPA).

There are two tributaries to the south of Little Fresh Pond that drain into it; one consists of a series of small ponds linked by streams running through the golf course, and the other is Stream C, bordered by the golf course to the west and a wooded area to the east. Both of these sources of water flow into Little Fresh Pond, impacting the health of the water. By enhancing the hydrology and ecology of this southern watershed, water quality will be improved, thus fulfilling three major goals of the Fresh Pond Reservation Master Plan.
