"High Read" Notification

      Automated Meter Reading (AMR) Program

Summertime Watering may effect your Water Bill

The Water Department's "High Read" notification program allows the Water Department to contact property owners soon after an incident of  high usage is detected. Speedy notification will allow property owners to repair any leaks , identify other usages that would effect the amount of water one uses.  If you can identify the source of the increase then please let the Water Department know. This will prevent unneccesary letters being sent. The program will need customers to update contact information so the Water Department is able to contact property owners as soon as a "high read" is detected. Please call Brian McCoy at 617 349-4771 or email him at  HighReads@cambridgema.gov with Account number, phone number, mailing address and email address.

Benefits to our customers

CWD is constantly looking for ways to improve service to our customers.  The (AMR) program will advance this goal in 6 ways:

  1. Eliminate estimated billing thus providing accurate usage reports and ensuring accurate bills.
  2. Provide efficiencies in the billing and meter reading function at the CWD which will allow for improved customer service initiatives.
  3. Alert the Water Department to unusual water usage at your home/property/business. Daily readings will allow CWD to analyze usage and permit the Department to investigate the circumstances that are responsible for the change in usage. ie leaks..etc.
  4. Minimizes the need for anyone to regularly access your property to read your water meter. * CWD will still need to access your water meter to repair or replace.
  5. Immediately provide new water meters for approximately 5,000 or our customers.
  6. Allow the CWD to implement a cyclical water meter replacement program thus ensuring properly operating water meters well into the future.
