The Water Operations Division is made up of a group of fifteen men and women who help carryout the Cambridge Water Department (CWD) mission of providing an uninterrupted supply of high quality water to the City of Cambridge through the operation of the Walter J. Sullivan Water Treatment Facility and operation of the CWD Water Quality Laboratory at 250 Fresh Pond Parkway.

This mission is carried out by continuous optimization of the water system performance (treatment operations) and maintenance of the facilities.  In addition, the Division provides water quality monitoring data (laboratory services) of raw and finished water from the watershed to the consumer’s tap.
