Watershed Lands & Facilities

The City of Cambridge owns over twelve hundred acres of land within the City of Waltham and the Towns of Lexington, Lincoln and Weston. This includes the two supply reservoirs, Hobbs Brook (593 acres) and Stony Brook (74 acres), with their associated dams and gatehouses, as well as land owned and set aside for resource conservation purposes. The City maintains a gatehouse on the Trapelo Road causeway between the upper and lower Hobbs Brook basins, and a barn on South Street in Weston. This building is utilized for the storage of maintenance equipment and hazardous material response equipment for the Water Department's and local fire departments' use. The staff field office is located in a barn at 167 Trapelo Road in Lincoln.
