    • Willard St Tree and Landscape Walk

      Corner of Willard and Brattle Streets.

      As part of the City’s on-going design efforts for the Willard Street Drainage Improvement Project, we will be offering a site walk of Willard Street to look at tree and landscape planting opportunities.

    • National Grid Community Meeting

      On-Site outside of 2 Houghton St.

      National Grid has been working on a gas main issue at the corner of Houghton St. and Prospect St. While they have attempted to permanently seal the leak, it has been determined that this section of pipe and valve will need to be replaced. Their engineers are in the process of developing a long-term plan to address this, and have been monitoring the situation daily to ensure there is no safety risk. We would like to invite you to a community meeting to discuss this plan on Tuesday, June 5th 6PM-7:30PM on-site in front of 2 Houghton St. The focus of this meeting will be to hear neighbors’ concerns and provide information and a schedule for a repair plan. We encourage you to attend, as we value the feedback we receive from Cambridge residents.

      Unfortunately, the “Tree Walk” through Mid-Cambridge scheduled for tonight with the City Arborist has been CANCELLED. We hope to reschedule and will share a new date once we have it.

    • Urban Forest Master Plan Meeting

      Cambridge Rindge and Latin School- Media Library, 459 Broadway

      The City is developing an Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP) that will guide the development of the urban forest into the future. The UFMP will include a strategic plan to evaluate, maintain and expand the urban forest canopy enabling it to be more resilient to climate change, reduce the urban heat island effect, mitigate stormwater runoff, reduce nutrient runoff, and contribute to the community well-being. The UFMP will coordinate with the efforts of the citywide comprehensive plan (Envision Cambridge) and the Climate Change Preparedness & Resilience Plan. . An UFMP Task Force has been selected to advise and provide guidance and feedback to a project team charged with developing the UFMP. Task Force meetings are open to the public. Cambridge Rindge and Latin School 459 Broadway, Media Cafeteria Tuesday, June 12th 6:00 – 8:00pm City staff and consultants will provide an introduction of the project and a brief overview of the UFMP purpose, scope, schedule and team.     • Huron Ave Community Meeting

      Tobin Montessori School, 197 Vassal Ln., Cambridge, MA 02138

      Huron Ave, between Concord Ave. and Raymond St., is scheduled for upcoming street and sidewalk reconstruction as part of the City’s 5 Year Plan. The Department of Public Works and the City’s Community Development Department will be hosting a second community meeting on Thursday, June 14th from 6PM-7:30PM at the Tobin School Auditorium, 197 Vassal Lane to discuss the Huron Ave. Reconstruction Project. City staff would like to discuss preliminary designs for traffic calming and safety improvements for the street. These designs were developed after receiving feedback at the first community meeting held Tuesday, April 3rd. We encourage you to attend, as we value the feedback we receive from Cambridge residents and businesses.

    • Gore St & Rufo Road Community Meeting

      Millers River Apartments Community Room 15 Lambert St.

      The City has received initial requests from residents for traffic calming, sidewalk improvements, street trees, signage, and more. We want to hear from you regarding what works well; what needs improving; and what changes should be incorporated into the project. The project will also include the reconstruction of Rufo Rd between Gore St and the Somerville line.

    • Sixth Street Reconstruction Project Community Meeting

      Kennedy-Longfellow School, 158 Spring St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      On Thursday, June 21 from 6:00-7:30 pm, City staff will be hosting an “Open House” in the Kennedy Longfellow School Cafeteria located at 158 Spring St. to review the proposed reconstruction plans with residents, discuss project schedule, and answer questions.

      Public Works holds up to four Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Days per year for Cambridge residents only. You must bring proof of residency.
