Are birth certificates public records?
Unless your parents were not married at the time of your birth, birth certificates are available to any member of the public.
Is I.D. necessary?
Usually identification is not necessary; however, in certain circumstances it is required, for example, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth. The birth record is only available to the subject of the record and the parent(s) listed on the record.
If you are ordering a restricted record by mail or online you must provide a photocopy of a picture I.D.
