The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) serves as a coordinating entity for many youth serving programs in Cambridge.

Through its Reaching All Youth (RAY) Committee, the office brings together twenty agencies to share information and work on common issues, such as developing a process for documenting 21st Century Skills attained through participation in community-based programs.

OWD's youth employment programs include:

The Youth Employment Center (YEC) is located in the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, room 2101. Every school day during lunch students can meet with a caring adult who is well-versed in developing work skills in youth. The center serves as a one-stop referral source for employment programs for youth aged 14-19. Teens who are looking for help in seeking employment may be referred to programs such as the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP), Fall Youth Employment Program (FYEP), Harvard Internship Program (HIP), Neighborhood Service Project (NSP), Personal and Career Exploration (PACE), Just-A-Start’s TeenWork program, various Cambridge Youth Program opportunities or individualized career counseling.
