Read on for More Information...... What does career counseling include?

  • Every customer is different. CEP staff work together with our clients to assess their strengths, interests, abilities, needs, and any obstacles that have to be addressed in order to achieve the client's employment goals. If a customer has been referred to CEP by another agency, CEP staff work in partnership with the referring agency and that customer.
  • CEP staff provide individualized assistance with vocational goal-setting. We don't tell our clients what kind of work to look for. Instead, we help our clients understand their options, make reasonable choices, and identify and effectively apply for the jobs that best match their interests, needs and abilities.

What does job search assistance include?

  • Some clients come to us with resumes, some don't; some have strong writing skills, some need help preparing cover letters; some clients have extensive experience with computers, others have none. Based on each client's different needs and abilities, CEP staff offer an appropriate level of assistance with resume development, cover-letter writing, finding job leads (with and without the Internet), researching employers, and interviewing. At CEP, we work to empower and assist our clients in conducting an effective job search, so they can get the job they need and want.
  • Free access to on-site computers (with Internet access), fax, telephone, job listings, and other resources.
  • Assistance accessing other helpful resources. CEP staff can help clients access employment-related benefits or services, including but not limited to: English language classes or tutoring, basic computer training, Veteran's benefits, state-funded vocational rehabilitation services, and other such services.
