WHAT DOES THE COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER DO?
The Community Learning Center gives adults a chance to:
- learn English as a Second Language (ESOL)
- improve their basic reading, writing, or math skills
- get their high school diploma through our Adult Diploma Program
- prepare for the GED examinations
- prepare for the U.S. Citizenship Test
- learn how to use a computer
WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER LIKE?
The Learning Center serves over 1,000 people annually. Classes at the Learning Center are small, informal, and organized into many different levels. A counselor meets with each student to decide which classes are best. Students progress at their own pace. Classes are run year-round, morning, afternoon, and evening.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR CLC CLASSES AND PROGRAMS?
Cambridge residents who are over the age of sixteen and no longer attending high school can come to classes at CLC. In addition, we sometimes take people from outside Cambridge who meet special criteria. However, because there is so much demand for classes, there is often a waiting list to get in.
ARE YOU HOMELESS?
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
- All classes at the CLC are free.
- Consultation, technical assistance, and the provision of classes for other organizations are available on a fee-for-service basis.
