Don't Stand Out In The Cold!
The City's Low Income Heating Assistance Program, (Fuel Assistance) serves the cities of Cambridge and Somerville. Fuel Assistance is a Federal and State funded program, assisting low-income households with winter heating costs incurred between November 1 and April 30.
Eligibility and benefit amount depend on household size and gross annual income for all household members, according to federal poverty guidelines. Income Chart
If you're eligible for benefits and pay for your heat, Fuel Assistance will notify and pay your heating vendor directly. If the cost of your heat is included in your rent you could be eligible for a portion of your rent amount paid directly to you. No heat emergencies or threatened utility shutoffs are given top priority, but you must have a complete, eligible application on file. How To Apply
Fuel Assistance can provide Discounts on your telephone and utilities, Weatherization services, and Citizens Energy (Joe Kennedy) oil deliveries.
