The North Cambridge Crime Task Force (NCCTF) is primarily funded by the Executive Office of Public Safety and administered by the City of Cambridge Department of Human Services. NCCTF endeavors to build stronger and more effective linkages between residents, the Police and City government. We meet and communicate with officials such as our Neighborhood Sergeant, the Police Information Officer, North Cambridge Patrol Officers, Police Community Relations Department, as well as City Councilors and neighborhood civic leaders.
NCCTF was originally founded in 1991 by a group of concerned neighborhood residents. We have worked to enhance neighborhood cohesion and address the issue of crime, especially drug related crimes in the community. Participants at our meetings include: community residents, representatives of local businesses, the Police department, City Council, Department of Human Services and other neighborhood organizations. Our meetings give participants an opportunity to discuss issues of crime and disorder and to also organize community activities that convey a strong prevention message. The NCCTF meets at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at various locations.
We also sponsor the National Night Out Against Crime event that is held on the first Tuesday in August. Some of the other events sponsored by NCCTF are community and police meetings, Internet safety presentations, Halloween and Holiday parties, domestic violence workshops, senior and youth events, safety awareness and community walks.
