George re-joined the city in 1994 to plan and create the Emergency Communications Department. By 1996 the department had

function and personnel.
Since joining the department he has become an active
member of the Massachusetts 911 community and the local
emergency planning community. He has participated in
many of the Cambridge-coordinated emergency planning
events, as members of Cambridge Public Safety and other
concerned agencies practice and prepare for emergency incident.
George also helped to coordinate the Cambridge
Democratic National Convention response as well as
create our local Emergency Operations Center. George regularly conducts training
around the state and participates in organizations
that coordinate activities among Public Safety
Answering Points (PSAPs). He is Vice
President of the Massachusetts Communications Supervisors
Association (MCSA) as
well as Vice President of the Massachusetts chapter of the National
Emergency Number Association (NENA).
He is active in the 911 Subcommittee of the
Massachusetts Major City (Police) Chiefs group. He sits
on the State of Massachusetts Interop
Coordinating Committee representing PSAP and dispatcher
interests and he is a member of the Communications
Committee of the Metro Boston Homeland Security Area. He
is a member of various other groups including the Association of Public-Safety Communication
