The City of Cambridge sells digital Geographic Information System (GIS) data of the City upon request. Below is information on how to obtain the data, pricing, and file formats available.

To place an order for digital data
1. Read the following information regarding the GIS data
2. Download the PDF (at the bottom of this page) and fill out the Data Request
3. Sign and return the form to:

4. Upon Receipt of your check made payable to the 'City of Cambridge', the data will be sent to the address specified on the data release form.
Planimetric and Topographic Information:
Planimetric and topographic landbase data was prepared through the use of photogrammetric methods from aerial photography dated April 17, 2003. This information meets ASPRS Standards for 1”=100’ Class 1 Map accuracy.
All data has been projected to the Stateplane grid coordinate system, Zone 4151, Datum NAD83 and Units feet.

Standard Cambridge Data CD Includes:
Base map layers (roads, buildings, hydro, and rail line)
Political boundaries (city boundary, zip codes, neighborhoods)
Tax Parcels (parcels, taxing districts, text, and limited attributes)
Planning layers (zoning, open space, historical districts, census data)
Environmental layers (wetlands, watershed data)
Municipal layers (schools, points of interest, election districts)
Topography (2 foot contours, spot elevations, DTM)
Transportation layers (centerlines, intersections, major roads)
Ortho CD Includes:
Digital orthophotos are a digitally enhanced mosaic of the aerial photographs used for creating the planimetric and topographic landbase layers. These images are available in a citywide seamless MrSID format.
Assessing CAMA database. All requests for a complete or partial data set need to be requested to the Cambridge Assessors office. Please contact 617-349-4343.
Ordering and Pricing:
ArcView Shapefile, or ESRI File Geodatbase. Images are available in MrSID format.
VECTOR DATA: $75.00. All vector data can fit on 1 CD.
IMAGE DATA: $75.00. Orthophoto of the City is at 3 inch resolution (each pixel is approximately 3 inch square) Seamless image fits on 1 CD.
