Description

Martin Luther KingJoin the City of Cambridge and Congresswoman Katherine Clark as we celebrate and remember the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
• 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM: Celebration of Dr. King’s Life and Work for Peace, Justice, and Transformation.
• 12:45 to 1:45 PM: Informal lunch and community gathering in the undercroft (basement) at St. Peter’s.

We will gather as a community to hear readings from Dr. King’s words calling for peace, justice and transformation, music by Christina DeVaughn and members of Cambridge's Episcopal churches, and remarks by Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts’ 5th Congressional District. In June, Congresswoman Clark joined civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis in leading a 25-hour sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives to demand an end to gun violence, and has been a leader on issues of economic justice and equality for all. She has been a vocal advocate for ending wage discrimination, protecting health care, access to affordable, high-quality child care, paid family leave, safer schools, and other reforms to address the challenges women and families face.

This event is free, open to all, and is wheelchair accessible.
Immediately following will be the Many Helping Hands MLK Day of Service.
