Cambridge Cemetery

The Cemetery Division is responsible for grave site preparation and other burial services with a grounds and maintenance program on the cemetery’s 66 acre site located on Coolidge Avenue. Ongoing work at the cemetery includes flower and tree planting, landscaping hilly terrains, resurfacing of cemetery roads, improvements to the drainage system, repair of historical monuments and development of selected areas for conversion to new burials. The Cambridge Cemetery is a resting place for prominent Literary Immortals, Henry and William James, and William Dean Howells; baseball Hall of Famers, John Clarkson and Timothy Keefe; Medal of Honor recipients, Joseph F. Scott and Alphosono M. Lunt, as well as other notable Cantabrigians.

Customer service continues to be an important goal of the Cambridge Cemetery - whether the need is for immediate burial or genealogical research. To meet the need for improved customer service, improvements in computerization of records, videotaping of gravesites, improved signage, and publicity are just some of the areas that are continually being upgraded. In addition, the main office of the Cambridge Cemetery is wheelchair accessible.
