One small business/institution (fewer than 50
employees) and one large (50 or more employees)
will be recognized in each category. In 2007,
we will also recognize a large apartment building
in the recycling category. The Recycling Awards
go to institutions that are leaders in recycling,
buying supplies with recycled content, and preventing
waste, while the Transportation Awards go to businesses
that are leaders in promoting transportation options
such as subsidizing MBTA passes, operating a shuttle
bus to a nearby T stop, providing secure parking
for bicycles, and allowing employees to telecommute.
“The Go Green Award
is an excellent way of recognizing Cambridge businesses
for their efforts to preserve the environment
and quality of life in Cambridge. Businesses in
Cambridge have always been active in promoting
and implementing environmental programs, and we
want to make sure that their efforts are appreciated
and applauded.”
----- City Manager, Robert W. Healy -----
If your business/institution or one you know
of makes an outstanding effort to eliminate solid
waste, improve air quality, or reduce traffic
congestion, please consider submitting a GoGreen
Award nomination describing their trip reduction
and/or recycling and waste reduction programs.
Individual employees are also encouraged to nominate
their employer for consideration.
