The
Cambridge Street Cleaning Program allows for each
of the streets in Cambridge to be swept once each
month. There is an annual street
cleaning schedule and street cleaning district
map that is issued in February of each year
for the street cleaning which takes place from April
1 through December 31. That schedule lists the 10
street cleaning districts in Cambridge with the
day of the week by month that street cleaning has
been scheduled. Signs are also posted on each of
the Cambridge streets with the specific day and
week of the month that street cleaning will take
place. In addition, on the morning of the street
cleaning for those streets that are to be cleaned
there is a loudspeaker announcement just to remind
the residents of the street cleaning that will take
place during that day. The street cleaning is usually
scheduled for between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each
day. If there are vehicles on any City street which
is scheduled to be cleaned those vehicles will be
tagged and towed. If a car has been towed the please
call the Cambridge Police Department at (617) 349-3300.
During extremely heavy rains or other inclement
weather the DPW may be forced to cancel Street
Cleaning. To avoid the tagging and towing of your
vehicle please call the Cambridge Public Works
Department at (617) 349-4800 for cancellation
confirmation.
