Why
Was this Project Necessary? |
| |
The
Cambridge Street Improvement Project
was designed to make the street
safer and more inviting for pedestrians,
improve the condition of the roadway
and sidewalks, improve the look
of the street by planting additional
street trees, improve the aesthetics
and function of the street lighting,
and improve the open spaces along
the corridor. |

What
Was Done to Fix the Problem? |
| |
Improvements
to Cambridge Street from Inman
Square to Lechmere included
reconstruction of the roadway,
sidewalks, and pedestrian ramps,
and the incorporation of new
curb extensions. Amenities include
new street trees, lights, signage,
bicycle parking, benches, and
trash receptacles. Three municipal
parking lots, as well as the
Vellucci Community Plaza, the
side yard of the Valente Library,
and the Millers River Park,
were all redesigned and improved
during this project.
