Update 1/30/07 |
|
| |
The following is an update
provided by MassHighway's contractor
on upcoming bridge work:
- Nstar Electric has completed
the relocation of power lines
from one side of the bridge
to the other, and removed
the old poles so that work
on the temporary pedestrian
bridge may begin.
- JF White will begin driving
four piles into the embankments
beginning this Monday January
29th. This work may be noisy
and last approximately one
week.
- JF White will also begin
assembling the temporary pedestrian
bridge on the existing bridge
deck.
- Nstar will then attach gas
and electric utilities to
the underside of the temporary
bridge.
- Once bridge assembly and
utility work are complete,
JF White will lift the temporary
pedestrian bridge in place.
This will work will require
one night to complete. A notice
regarding the night work will
be sent once the date is established.
- Nstar will then complete
the hookup of the utilities
on the temporary bridge including
establishing gas and electric
connections.
The above work will take approximately
two months to complete. Demolition
on the bridge will begin after
this point. JF White will be
posting a revised schedule on
the bulletin boards attached
to the construction fence at
either end of the bridge. The
City is planning on holding
a community meeting in late
February to give further updates
and to discuss design options
for the concrete bridge walls.
