MassHighway has informed us
that their contractor, JF White,
will begin several evenings
of night work on Tuesday, February
6th from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- This work could last for
up to three weeks, from Monday
through Friday nights (not
on weekends or holidays).
We'll continue to discuss
the duration of this work
with MassHighway and keep
neighbors informed.
- Massachusetts Bay Commuter
Rail has flagmen immediately
available for this work who
are necessary to ensure this
work is completed safely.
- This work involves attaching
shielding on the underside
of the bridge to keep debris
from falling on the train
tracks. The work will utilize
a man-lift, power tools for
sawing and attaching the wood,
and a generator.
- During this time the temporary
pedestrian bridge will also
be lifted into place at night
(provided utility work proceeds
on schedule) so that final
electric and gas utility connections
can be made by Nstar onto
the temporary bridge.
Also, there is a community
meeting scheduled on Tuesday,
February 27th from 6:30 PM -
8:30 PM at the North Cambridge
Senior Center (2050 Massachusetts
Ave.) to give a project update
and discuss possible patterns
that could be incorporated into
the bridges' concrete walls.
MassHighway needs a decision
on this point shortly after
this meeting so please come
give your input.
