Walden Street Bridge
Commonwealth of Massachusetts- Bridge Reconstruction Project

Project Update 3/14/07

The temporary pedestrian bridge will be lifted off the existing structure and placed on its foundations on Friday night 3/16.

This will also coincide with the final shift of night work for now. MassHighway has installed all of the demolition shielding over the tracks and will attempt to finish shielding that is not directly over the tracks with daytime track diversions.

This represents a significant milestone in the project. Phase II gas and electrical relocations can now begin. NSTAR has projected eight weeks for this work. Once these relocations are complete and the ramps to the bridge are installed, the bridge will open for pedestrians. This will represent the next major milestone in the project as demolition of the existing structure can begin.

If you have any questions, please contact Bill Deignan by e-mail or by phone at (617) 349-4632
