MassHighway's contractor is
clearing trees behind the Nstar
substation because it is necessary
to create space for the contractor
to build ramps for the temporary
pedestrian bridge and to build
the retaining wall at the NStar
substation, which will be done
at a later time in the contract.
Given that there is a 5' difference
in height between the end of
the temporary bridge and sidewalk
on Walden Street, 60' of ramping
and level landings are necessary
to connect the temporary bridge
to the sidewalk and meet disability
codes.
