    Cambridge Disperses Over $87,000 Within Days of Fire

    Over the past three days, the City of Cambridge has produced $64,200 in checks and provided $23,400 in gift cards for the families displaced by the December 3, 2016, fire in the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood. In the days and weeks ahead, the City will be distributing additional assistance beyond this initial funding to those impacted by the fire.

    Cambridge Seeking to Identify Permanent Housing for Fire Victims

    The City Manager's Office and the Mayor's Office are seeking to identify permanent rental housing for tenants and property owners displaced as a result of December 3, 2016 fire in the Wellington-Harrington Neighborhood. Any Cambridge property owner with permanent rental housing that could be offered to victims should contact the Mayor’s Office at 617-349-4321 to help us match families in need with available housing. Housing needs include both affordable and market-rate housing, with a particular need for housing with 3- or 4-bedrooms that can accommodate families.

    Traffic Impacts in Harvard Square and Surrounding Area from Cambridge 5K Yulefest Sunday, Dec 11

    The race starts & finishes on Mass Ave in Harvard Square. There will be rolling street closures along the course between 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. The MBTA will temporarily suspend services for Bus #1 and Bus #69 at the Harvard Gate stop between 9-11 a.m.

  • Participatory Budget Voting

    How Would You Spend $700,000 to Improve Cambridge?

    As part of the city’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) Process, Cambridge residents can vote online or at designated locations from Dec. 3-9, to help decide how to spend $700,000 of the FY18 capital budget on projects to improve Cambridge. You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to participate in the PB vote.

    Speed Limit Being Reduced to 25 MPH

    On Thursday, December 8th, the speed limit on City-owned streets in the City of Cambridge will be reduced to 25 Miles Per Hour (MPH), unless otherwise posted. This is an important step towards improving the safety of everyone who lives, works and visits Cambridge, and is a significant component of the City’s Vision Zero Initiative.
